My Reading Life

What I'm reading this week
I received a copy of Dietland by Sarai Walker at BEA in the Book Club Speed Dating Panel and WOW am I glad I did. I am loving this book! I am almost halfway through it and I can't wait to see where it's going to take me next. So far I'm reminded of Fight Club but for women and touches of The World According to Garp. I highly recommend it.
This past weekend I saw the movie, The End of the Tour , about David Foster Wallace and my interest in reading Infinite Jest was revived. Since, I don't have the time to dedicate to a thousand plus page book right now and one of my go to resources, Book Riot's Start Here: Read Your Way Into 25 Amazing Authors suggests I start with A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again by David Foster Wallace, that is what I'm doing. I'm enjoying it so far and I think I'll stick with it and work towards a goal of reading IJ next year.
What's new in the Book World
The Beautiful Bureaucrat by Helen Phillips is another book I was lucky to pick up at BEA. This quick read (under 200 pages) is a quirky, sad, sureal fable that reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.
